President’s Volunteer Service Award Program
The President's Council on Service and Civic
Participation created the President's Volunteer Service Award program as a way
to thank and honor Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example,
inspire others to engage in volunteer service.
If you would like to participate in this award program, begin tracking
your volunteer hours now. To qualify,
the volunteer must keep track of their volunteer service hours and accumulate a
minimum of 100 hours. Once you have
completed the 100 hours of volunteer service, the hours must be certified by a
certifying agency. The Fourth Judicial
District has been approved as a certifying agency. As a certifying agency, we are responsible
for certifying the hours of volunteer service, nominating qualified volunteers,
ordering and paying for Awards (either directly or through financial
sponsorship), and distributing the Awards locally.
The award
packet includes:
· Personalized Certificate
·
Letter from the President of the
· Letter from the President's Council on Service & Civic Participation
· Lapel Pin
If you wish to participate, please use the Volunteer Hours form available in the GAL office or this form can be emailed to you, it is also available on the website under the Volunteer Resource page. If you have kept good records that can be verified, the hours can be back dated no more than six months so back to December 2006. This volunteer time does not include the initial GAL training classes, but does include any direct service provided on your case which includes meetings, visits, travel time, research, reading/writing reports, and time spent in court. Please contact the office to let us know that you are interested in participating.
