Who We Are

Guardian ad Litem volunteers are ordinary people who are committed to doing what is best for a child.  We welcome volunteers from all cultures, professions, and ethnic and educational backgrounds.

The Guardian ad Litem Program of North Carolina is a volunteer organization that represents abused and neglected children in court.  We are interested in people from all different walks of life who are committed to making a difference.  Previous court experience is not necessary.  Training is provided for anyone who is interested in devoting some time to help some of our children.

Guardian ad Litem volunteers come from all walks of life.  The main qualifications are a sincere concern for the well being of children and a continuing commitment to advocate for a child until a safe and permanent home is identified.  A Guardian ad Litem must be objective and non-judgmental and be able to interact with people of various educational, economic and ethnic backgrounds.
